Dancing in the Moonlight

It’s so hard for me to stay angry.  If anything, anger eventually triggers laughter and smiling for me.
I can’t keep a straight face for long.
It is the one emotion that descends upon me like a weight in the water.  And it is the same emotion I constantly shrug off my shoulders these days.  I don’t want it near me clouding up the energy around me.
I can do without it.
Somewhere I read recently that anger is the cloak for grief.  I wonder if that is true.  It makes more sense than not.  When I think of the things I can get angry about, the root of the emotion is always something way out of my control. Whether something has been misused, misplaced or broken, it is always something precious lost…and “something” could easily be interchanged for “someone” here.
I am no different from anyone else.
I get angry from time to time and have to take a few deep breaths to get myself back on the right track.
The funny thing is that once I’ve vented, I am ready to get on with my life.
I always hear the words “Time’s Awasting”!  Let’s get back to the Happy!

I am reading everywhere about making the most out of every circumstance and turning everything into a positive growing experience.
Well, can we be real about this?
That’s not quite how it works!
Growth can and will hurt.  Do you remember being younger and going through spurts when your bones were growing faster than your muscles?  Those were some painful times for me.  I can still feel how overstretched my calf muscles were!
The real life lessons come from learning to successfully navigate those rough waters.  We can expect challenges and we can expect that there can easily be more than one right answer.  Why then, do we all put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect from the start?  I have always been the one to watch from a distance.  To get a feel for the circumstances around me, assess, and participate at a comfortable pace for me.  It is never about being first.  It is about showing up when the moment is right for me.  Whether I am 20 or 50, there is no better time for growth than when it feels right.
I  want to live my life feeling the spectrum of emotions.  I know that I can recognize my own tendencies for habit and I believe that I can alter certain outcomes by taking the time to make wise decisions.
Choice!  I will have choices!
I’ve experienced what it means to have very few choices.  I’m not a huge fan of that option.  And what’s with all the commentary on being present yet detached from circumstances?  Easier said than done!
I’m Italian!  I feel and see everything!

Dancing in the Moonlight

by King Harvest

We get it almost every night
When that moon is big and bright
It’s a supernatural delight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight

Everybody here is out of sight
They don’t bark, and they don’t bite
They keep things loose, they keep ‘em light
Everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight

Dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s feeling warm and bright
It’s a supernatural delight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight

We like our fun and we never fight
You can’t dance and stay uptight
It’s a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight

Dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s feelin’ warm and bright
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight

Released in July of 1972, Dancing in the Moonlight has been a favorite Summer Song of mine for as long as I can remember.
It always brings forth images of me:
As a child singing and dancing at the end of a dock in the Adirondacks on Caroga Lake,
Dancing in my garden with my friends on these long beautiful Summer Nights,
Watching the Moon transform every evening,
 Making a wish!

It is so important to Love yourself and to Thine ownself be True.  Everyone sees the World just a little differently.
We are not suppose to be perfect.
Let’s leave that to the Moon!

So keep smiling and keep them all wondering just what it is that you’ve got going on behind that smile on your face!  You never know, that one smile, given so freely can make someone else’s World Brighter!
Well, so can the Moonlight!!!
